As a therapist working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, I found it difficult to find many free resources aimed at supporting my therapeutic practice. I therefore began to create my own resources and, after receiving lots of positive feedback from colleagues and service users, I decided to make these resources available to others, too.
I am a Psychological Therapist with a PGDip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a PGCert in Low Intensity Therapies and an MSc in Psychology. I have worked supporting adults, children and young people who are struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma. I am also a qualified and experienced Primary School Teacher (PGCE) and have a first class undergraduate degree in Education Studies with Psychology and Counselling. All of my resources are created based on CBT theory, my experience and knowledge of working with adults, children, young people and families and on my learning from my university training. For academic references, please visit the references page of my site.
I hope that other professionals find them useful and helpful in supporting the mental health of those who they work with.
WeHeartCBT is a collection of resources aimed at supporting children and young people who are struggling with low mood and/or anxiety related mental health difficulties. Resources are made for mental health professionals, schools and families and are evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) strategies. These are evidence based interventions and use existing research as part of NHS Talking Therapies and based on NICE guidelines.
WeHeartCBT also develops resources and lesson plans for schools based on the UK National Curriculum. These resources aim to promote mental health in schools and provide school staff with easy, ready made materials that they can pick up and use with the children and young people they teach.
WeHeartCBT also develops self-help materials which children, young people and families can use themselves.
I create many of my own images/art work featured on the website and resources as well as using www.canva.com to create PDFs and add imagery.
